Advertising Information
Only NCA members may advertise in NewfTide. (Exceptions are made for known commercial advertisers.) Mail all material directly to the editor. Waive signature on all express mail. Checks must accompany ads and must be made out to the Newfoundland Club of America. Checks from Canadian and international members must be in U.S. dollars, drawn on a u.s. bank. Ads received without payment will be returned.
All advertising materials will be returned via first class mail, except for computer disks, which will be returned only when specifically requested. Please put your name and address on the back of all photos to guarantee return.
Newf Tide will accept ad content that includes 1) titles awarded by the Newfoundland Club of America; 2) titles, championships, and group placements from only one U.S. registry, the American Kennel Club; and 3) ads for foreign titles, foreign championships, and foreign group placements. (Verification must be sent to the database chair prior to acceptance of foreign titles.) Ads touting placements in a rating system (Pedigree, Canine Chronicle, etc.) must identify the rating system. Electronically-submitted photos should be high resolution, preferably 300 dpi and in TIFF format.
Ad deadlines for full page, half page, and quarter page ads are December 15 (First Quarter), March 15 (Second Quarter),June 15 (Third Quarter) and September 15 (Fourth Quarter). These dates are 15 days prior to the normal deadlines of January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1. Ads need not be camera ready but must conform to NewfTide specifications.
Prices include basic layout and one photo, except for a quarter page ad where photos are not available. Each additional photo is $20. Add 20 percent surcharge for preferred placement, including inside front and inside back covers. Advertisers requesting special placement and paying the preferred fee, must send their copy at the time of payment. Space will not be reserved unless this is done. The specific charges are as follows.
Full Page: $160; Half page: $90; Quarter page: $50; inside front/back cover in color: $300.
Ads from member vendors, who are selling items or services, are charged a higher price than ads from members who are placing ads in memoriam or touting the accomplishments of their dog.
Member Vendor Ads: Full page: $200; Half page: $120; Quarter page: $75.00.
Classified: $.50 per word with a 20 word minimum. Ads to consist of selling or buying adult Newfs or Newf-related objects. Copy must be specified "for classified:'
Best in Show/Group Placements/High in Trial
$40 per photo. Copy to include placement, show location, date of win, name of dog, sire, dam, breeder, and owner.
In Memoriam
No charge. Copy limited to the dog's regisrered name, call name, owner's name, date of birth, and date of death. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for return of photo.
New Champions and Title Winners
$30 per photo. Copy to include name of dog with title, sire, dam, sex, breeder! owner, and date title was earned.
Obituaries
NCA Members and their immediate families. Each notice may list name, age, hometown, date of death, cause of death, kennel name, regional and all breed club affiliations, immediate family survivors, and request for memorials. Obituaries can be submitted directly to the editor.
Newf Tide Submission Guidelines
The editor is Maredith Reggie. Waive signature on express mail.
Newf Tide is produced on a Macintosh computer. Articles and/or photos can be sent on disk. Word format is preferred for text. Please label all disks, pictures, and materials clearly and enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope for their return. Disks will be returned only if specifically requested.
Contact the editor to submit articles or drafts of articles. These articles can be mailed or submitted via email.
The NCA and the Newf Tide Editor reserve the right to reasonably edit all copy submitted. If you have questions or concerns regarding Newf Tide or Newf Tide policies, contact the editor or Aura Dean, Newf Tide Policy Committee Chair.
